Lying just a little over 20 miles south of Martinique is the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, an island where any description includes the word "lush." Liush in natural resources, lush in greenery and lush in views that greet the eye of the visitor. |
St. Lucia is the largest of the English-speaking island in the Windwards. Still predominantly agricultural, bananas is the major export, being grown in the jungles surrounding Mt. Beaujolais and Mt. Grandd Magasin, both inactive volcanos. The terrain is mostly mountainous with rainforests and with ridges extended radially from the mountain peaks. these ridges make travel both interesting and beautiful as well as somewhat time consuming. One has to drive in switch-back mode up one ridge, cross over to the next the drive down the next ridge, simply to move circumferentially a matter of a mile or so. |

Serenity at its finest |

Let's get ready to sail |
With taxi cabs and rental cars readily available, it is both easy and most enjoyable to tour the island, experiencing first hand the tranquility and lush beauty that is St. Lucia. With Rodney Bay in the low lands to the north, beautiful Marigot Bay to the south along the western coastline and Soufriere and Vieux Fort south, there are many things to enjoy on your trip around the island. Historical Pigeon Island is run by the St. Lucia National Trust. There you can find the remains of a fort used in earlier times by the British navy. |

Some of the most beautiful terrain in the Caribbean is located around the Pitons on the southwest side of the island. |
